Oxfam Pilipinas, together with researchers from the University of Technology Sydney – Institute for Sustainable Futures (UTS-ISF), engaged fisherfolk, women’s cooperatives, civil society organizations, and local government representatives in Laguna and Camarines Norte to share the goals of renewable energy (RE) projects with women and vulnerable groups from 30 March to 3 April 2026.

Coastal communities in Laguna echoed that hearing their demands is just a step towards inclusive participation. The Malaya Farmers’ Cooperative facility showed a good case of a locally owned small-scale RE system, where women lead and manage its operations. These insights guide the development of the gender equality, disability, and social inclusion (GEDSI)-responsive just energy transition (JET) programs in the country.
