As Mayon Volcano continues to spew lava, ash, and gases, families living around it face the uncertainties of prolonged displacement amid government warnings that volcanic activity may continue for five months.

With the support of the Start Network, partner organizations People in Need Philippines, Simon of Cyrene Community Rehabilitation and Development Foundation, Inc., MIDAS/Mayon Integrated Development Alternatives and Services,Inc., Coastal CORE, Incorporated, and Oxfam Pilipinas extended anticipatory support to 731 displaced families in Sto. Domingo and Malilipot, Albay on 14-16 February 2026.

Together under the Mayon #AnticipatoryAction (MAP Mayon) project, we provided families with cash assistance for hygiene kits and essential household items, enabling them to decide what they need the most.

We also conducted orientations on sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR), gender-based violence (GBV) prevention, and hygiene promotion to help prevent untoward incidents, as personal spaces are limited in evacuation centers.

We will continue to provide support to communities affected by Mayon Volcano, upholding their dignity and ensuring their safety even in times of crisis.
