Established in 2015, Sugod Multi-sectoral Women’s Association was organized in barangay Sugod Proper, Marawi City with the support of Al Mujaadila Women’s Association (AMWA).

About nine kilometers north of Marawi City lies the Municipality of Saguiaran, where a group of M’ranao women farmers from different barangays organized themselves and established the Saguiaran Turmeric Organization.

The Bamboo Landers Multi-sectoral Rural Workers Association is a multi-sectoral organization with ten active women members based in Buadiposo Buntung, Lanao del Sur.

Almaira Batua-an, an advocate of women’s economic empowerment, is the current president of the Kamapiyaan o Pagtao Ago so Ingud Association, an organization composed of women farmers in Dibarusan, Balindong, Lanao Del Sur.

In Barangay Batangan, Bubong Lanao del sur, a group of women farmers led by Amerah Manapar established Batangan Farmer Workers’ Association.

Asnairah Tahir has been a bakwit (internally displaced person) all her life. She is a resident of Mamasapano, Maguindanao, one of the battlegrounds in the Philippines between government forces and armed groups, and even for rivalry among family clans called rido.

When the 2008 conflict between Armed Forces of the Philippines and Bangsamoro Islamic Freedom Fighters broke out, Melan's family and other hundred families were forced to evacuate to a safer place in Datu Odin Sinsuat. Their temporary shelters had no decent comfort rooms, and access to safe water is scarce.
