As the energy crisis deepens existing inequalities and care workers remain unprotected, Oxfam Pilipinas calls for urgent actions to realize the Philippines’ gender and climate commitments.

Oxfam Pilipinas, Pambansang Koalisyon ng Kababaihan sa Kanayunan (PKKK), together with the Government of Canada, Oxfam Canada, and local organizations, launched the Care Connect project in Biliran on July 24, 2025, emphasizing the need to recognize care work as real work and institutionalize care programs and policies at the local level.

Within countless households across the Philippines, domestic workers provide essential care work for other families so their own families may live. And yet, they are among the most vulnerable and underappreciated workers in the country.  Long hours, below-minimum wages, little to no social protection, and, in extreme cases, outright abuse characterize their experience.

The campaign kicks off with an online forum, ‘Family or Career, Why Not Both? Pag-usapan natin paano sumakses sa bahay at buhay', highlighting the effects of assigning majority of unpaid care and domestic work to women in the typical Filipino household.
