EU-BAEP WEE-SAFE honors partners at project closing

Partner organizations SIMCARRD Inc., KMFI, Oxfam België/Belgique, and Oxfam Pilipinas gathered for a feast of community stories as the European Union-funded project "Strengthening Agri-fishery Enterprise through Women and Youth Empowerment Inclusive Business and Climate Resilience", or WEE-SAFE, comes to an end on 11 February 2026, in Zamboanga.

Partner organizations SIMCARRD Inc., KMFI, Oxfam Belgium, and Oxfam Pilipinas gathered for a feast of community stories as the European Union-funded project “Strengthening Agri-fishery Enterprise through Women and Youth Empowerment Inclusive Business and Climate Resilience”, or WEE-SAFE, comes to an end on 11 February 2026, in Zamboanga.
After nearly three years, WEE-SAFE has reached 3,506 farmers and fisherfolk and supported ninety-five local organizations in Basilan, Sulu, and Tawi-Tawi (BaSulTa). Together with women, youth, indigenous people (IP), and other small producers in the agri-fishery sector, partners from the government matched this enthusiasm with firm commitments, pledging continued support.
As recent developments threaten the gains of the Bangsamoro peace process, we join a multisectoral coalition of leaders and organizations in urging the Philippine government to take decisive action to keep the transition on track in accordance with the Comprehensive Agreement on the Bangsamoro.
On 21 May, Oxfam Pilipinas, People’s Disaster Risk Reduction Network, and United Youth of the Philippines-Women (UnYPhil-Women) deployed rapid assessment teams and provided hygiene and water kits to 214 households in Brgy. Lagundi and Balong in Tugunan in the BARMM Special Geographic Area. A further 150 families were also provided with household items to replace dining and kitchen items lost during the flooding.
