Strengthening Harmonized Action for Disaster Risk Reduction, Preparedness, and Recovery (SHARPER) Impact Evaluation Results Brief
The Strengthening Harmonized Action for Disaster Risk Reduction, Preparedness, and Recovery (SHARPER) project, spanning thirty-nine (39) months from October 2020 to December 2023, was implemented in the provinces of Eastern Samar and Catanduanes. Building on the success of the Adaptive Livelihoods, Emergency Readiness, and Timely Response of Communities (ALERT) project (2017-2020), SHARPER aimed to scale up and replicate effective practices in disaster risk reduction (DRR) across additional communities in Dolores, Eastern Samar and Virac, Catanduanes. The project focused on enhancing the capacities of thirty-two (32) disaster-prone communities to co-lead preparedness, relief, and recovery programs in partnership with local humanitarian and DRR actors. It sought to improve the resilience of partner communities through the use of weather forecast information, adoption of anticipatory strategies, and the development of disaster-resistant livelihoods along with improved access to clean water.
