When disaster strikes, it is always the poorest and most vulnerable individuals and communities who suffer the most. Oxfam Pilipinas contributes to improving and saving lives especially of the most vulnerable. We increased our anticipatory actions against disasters to help communities better prepare and mitigate the impact on their lives. Such efforts helped make a difference to the lives of 277,910 individuals affected by flooding, typhoons, armed conflict and the COVID-19 pandemic.
The following is a summary of our humanitarian interventions, which were made possible through quick assessments of humanitarian situations; active participation of affected population in designing response efforts, resulting in more appropriate interventions; and effective coordination with other humanitarian actors to maximize and leverage resources and avoid duplication of response:

Shelter kits containing trapal (canvas for tents), rope, floor mat, bag, mosquito net, malong (native attire that can also be used as a blanket), solar lamp and various cooking items distributed; camp coordination and camp management committees set up and strengthened
