Sigay is a Maguindanaon word which translates to “light” or “liwanag” in Tagalog, and this is exactly what the Sigay Women’s Association, Inc. radiates in their enterprise and their community in Datu Saudi Ampatuan, Maguindanao. 

More than anything, collective action pushed the M’ranao women of Saguiaran, Lanao del Sur to organize themselves towards social and economic empowerment.

Almaira Batua-an, an advocate of women’s economic empowerment, is the current president of the Kamapiyaan o Pagtao Ago so Ingud Association, an organization composed of women farmers in Dibarusan, Balindong, Lanao Del Sur.

In Barangay Batangan, Bubong Lanao del sur, a group of women farmers led by Amerah Manapar established Batangan Farmer Workers’ Association.

Groups organized a forum in Cotabato City on Wednesday to support the readiness of BARMM government and communities to prepare for the incoming El Niño and the potential extreme weather events – much stronger typhoon and flooding after the dry spell.

The local government units of Borongan City and Municipality of Dolores have committed to promote renewable energy and create a more sustainable future for their communities.
